About Jim Franklin:

Jim Franklin has been a familiar voice in the valley area for many years during drive time.  After beginning his radio career in Eau Claire, WI, Jim did  mornings or afternoon drive in Missouri, Kentucky, Nashville, TN, Macon, Georgia, Iowa, and South Florida before returning to the familiar surroundings of his home state.  "Since half my family is from here and I spent most summers here growing up, this was one place that required no road map," Jim says.  Jim originally did mornings on another Cumulus station for several years before moving to afternoons on WVBO in early 2004.  Jim also currently serves as the Program Director of 103.9 WVBO and has previously held management posts at several stations around the country. His commercial voicework is also heard on many other radio and TV stations around the country and the Valley area.  He and his wife Adrianne  have a small "petting zoo" of parrots, cats and "critters" in their house.  Jim is frequently asked to speak to various schools or community groups and is a mainstay in raising money for many others including: MAKE-A-WISH of the Fox Cities, the M.A.C.C. Fund, and the Salvation Army.
Also a dedicated musician, Jim can frequently be heard playing the trumpet with various groups around the Fox Cities.  He is currently a featured trumpet soloist with the NORTH COAST JAZZ PROJECT and will be playing various engagements with them around the midwest this year.  Over the years, Jim has shared the stage locally with WHISKEY RIVER, THE ZIPPERS, and MARK SHURILLA.  He previously played for several years with former members of the ALLMAN BROTHERS,  SAM AND DAVE, OTIS REDDING, B.B. KING, and the AIR FORCE BIG BAND while in Georgia.  One of his highest musical honors came in 2008 when he was asked to perform "Taps" at the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall ceremonies.  As Jim puts it, "there is NO way to prepare for the emotion you feel and share when it comes to paying tribute to those who gave ALL for our country."
