GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Most of the time, you’ll see a police officer in a squad car, but you may also see them patrolling on a motorcycle, and some might ask, ‘How do they earn that opportunity?’
The Green Bay Police Department invited local media to learn and observe the station’s Motorcycle Operator Training and Recertification Course.

The course is an annual training exercise spanning multiple jurisdictions, and it offers the chance for police officers to develop or polish their skills that will allow them to use motorcycles safely and effectively.
It’s a key step for police to earn the certification required to serve as an operator, and the course is nine days of training.

The course includes slow maneuvering, traffic-related evasion techniques and other skills that a motorcycle officer requires.
The Green Bay Police Department also used the opportunity to remind motorcyclists to be safe and wear a helmet, but also that drivers must share the roads.
