GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A week after the Wisconsin State Budget was signed into law by Governor Tony Evers, a trio of local lawmakers gathered to discuss the $20 million investment in the Port of Green Bay they secured.
State Senator Eric Wimberger (R-Oconto), along with State Representatives Benjamin Franklin (R-De Pere) and David Steffen (R-Howard), spoke with the media at the Port of Green Bay, highlighting their plans for the rest of the session and their vision of the area’s future.

In the state budget, the trio was able to secure $20 million investment, and with other grant funding, the money will go towards expanding the port. Sen. Wimberger gave some details on his vision and hopes for the space.
“If we’re going to use surplus, we want to redevelop and restore struggling infrastructure,” Sen. Wimberger said. “The port fell into that concept, the caved-in docks, the need for a new seawall and environmental remediation.”
