PARIS, Wis. (WFRV) – One Wisconsin man suffered just minor injuries after 18 agencies were called in to help rescue him from a soybean silo Friday morning.
According to a release from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, several agencies responded at 7:45 a.m. to a farm on the 3300 block of 169th Avenue in the Town of Paris for reports of a 65-year-old man stuck in a 20-foot-tall silo.

Officials say the 65-year-old man became stuck in soybeans while inspecting the silo’s interior auger. After attempting multiple calls for over 15 minutes, the man was able to get a signal and use his cell phone to contact family members, who then alerted 911.

An emergency wall had to be constructed around the 65-year-old as he was reportedly stuck up to his neck and shoulders.

Firefighters had to use specialized rappelling recovery equipment, access the 20-foot-tall silo, and carefully vacuum out the soybeans to place a harness on the man.
Around 9:45 a.m., authorities say the man was able to be lifted out of the top of the silo and taken to a local hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.
Sheriff David Zoerner would like to thank all the agencies for their professionalism and precision in the rescue efforts, which led to a successful outcome of what could have been a tragic event.
