PESHTIGO, Wis. (WFRV) – Marinette County District Attorney DeShea Morrow has announced that the officers involved in a death in Peshtigo from late August were justified in using lethal force.

According to DA Morrow’s letter to the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation, the officers involved in the August 29 death of Andrew Collamore will not face criminal charges.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on August 29, when officers were attempting to locate a vehicle that was connected to a suspicious death investigation in Dane County. A high-speed pursuit reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour led to a crash.
Andrew Collamore, according to the release, exited the vehicle after refusing to show both hands. Officers followed Collamore, who was reportedly holding a folding knife in his right hand.
The officers involved, with the Marinette Police Department, reportedly kept telling him to drop the knife; however, Collamore continued to say he had a knife and kept mentioning ‘Area 51.’
Officers Parker J. De Los Santos and Andrew D. Bonjean both fired their weapons at him after Collamore charged at the former with the knife in his hands.
“The video evidence of the shooting matches officers’ accounts,” DA Morrow said in the release. “Fearing for their safety, officers shot Mr. Collamore, and he died as a result of his injuries.”
The letter from DA Morrow concluded advising that the matter is considered closed, and that proper protocols were followed by the involved law enforcement.
