SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin have released drone footage after a 36-year-old man was arrested for his first operating while intoxicated (OWI) offense.
Early Wednesday morning, an officer with the Sun Prairie Police Department was patrolling a neighborhood when they came across a crash along Davison Drive. The vehicle had deployed airbags, and the driver appeared to have left the scene.

The officer, who is also a drone operator, deployed a drone to assist in the search. Additional officers arrived on the scene, and the drone located the suspect in the backyards of nearby homes.
Officers on the perimeter were directed to the suspect’s location. After a short foot pursuit, the man was taken into custody without injury to him or the officers.
The 36-year-old suspect was arrested and cited for OWI (first offense), PAC (first offense), and hit and run to an unattended vehicle.

The owner of the legally parked vehicle that was struck received all necessary information about the incident.
The Sun Prairie Police Department credited its Drone Program, developed by patrol officers, for helping resolve the incident quickly and safely. Officials said the program has become a valuable tool for both officers and the community.
