GREEN LAKE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Ryan Borgwardt, the 46-year-old Wisconsin man who faked his own death on Green Lake and fled the country in August 2024, missed a court hearing on Tuesday.
Court records show that Borgwardt was scheduled for a motion hearing on February 3, and neither he nor his attorney appeared in court.
The court dismissed the motion based on the no-shows, and the court adjourned at 11:38 a.m.

Borgwardt was released from custody, and online jail records listed him as “out of custody” as of December 2.
Borgwardt was sentenced on August 26 after pleading no contest to misdemeanor obstruction of an officer for staging his own drowning and disappearance. The sentence, 89 days in jail, matched the length of time he was missing before resurfacing.
