(FOX 5/KUSI) — Preparations are underway in Santa Clara, Calif., where the New England Patriots will face off against the Seattle Seahawks for Super Bowl LX.
This Sunday’s game will be the Patriots’ 12th trip to the Super Bowl and the Seahawks’ third. It will also mark the second time the game will be played at Levi’s Stadium.

While the Super Bowl has been held in California several times, the following cities have yet to host one despite having a hometown NFL team:

Pasadena, Calif. and Tampa, Fla. are tied for third place with five Super Bowls, followed by Atlanta, San Diego, Houston and Glendale, Ariz. all having hosted three.

According to the NFL’s Vice President of Events Strategy Matt Shapiro in an interview with Axios, the process of choosing a host city begins years in advance. The city’s weather, stadium quality, and the mix of hotels and nearby venues are the main deciding factors, Shapiro says.
Super Bowl LX kicks off at 3:30 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 8. Super Bowl LXI is scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2027.
