(WFRV) – Two major construction projects on U.S. Highway 141 are now expected to wrap up earlier than planned, reducing the length of detours and traffic slowdowns for drivers.
The first project addresses frost heaves along an 8.3-mile stretch of U.S. 141 between Highway 22 in Oconto County and the Highway 64 interchange in Marinette County. Originally scheduled for completion in 2028, the project is now expected to finish in 2027.

The work is aimed at improving safety and reducing the severity of pavement heaving during winter months.
The second project includes resurfacing and culvert replacement along approximately 8.3 miles of U.S. 141 from County C in the village of Wausaukee to County K in the town of Amberg. That project was also slated for completion in 2028 but is now expected to finish in 2027.

The improvements are designed to correct severe pavement deterioration and replace substandard culverts and guardrails.
By advancing both projects, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation says motorists will see improved safety, ride quality and long-term pavement performance sooner. U.S. 141 is expected to remain open during construction, with traffic controlled by flagging operations.
