GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – After former Green Bay Metro Fire Chief Matthew Knott stepped down from the position in early February, the Green Bay Police and Fire Commission announced that it will soon begin a nationwide search to fill the role.
According to Green Bay Police and Fire Commission officials, interim co-Chiefs have been announced with the official search to fill the role expected to take four to six months.

Assistant Chief of Operations, Ray Fuiten, and Assistant Chief of Training, EMS, and Support Services, Eric Jeltema, were named as interim co-Chiefs.
“Given the demonstrated results of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department and its reputation as a leader in Fire and EMS services, we expect a large group of candidates from both inside and outside of the organization,” noted PFC President Rod Goldhahn.
Knott’s decision to step down reportedly came after ‘careful thought and reflection’ and was a personal decision to prioritize ‘what’s best for his family.’
