GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A highly anticipated winter motorsports event in Green Bay has been canceled due to deteriorating ice conditions caused by unseasonably warm temperatures.
Battle on the Bay, which was scheduled for Feb. 20 and 21 on the Bay of Green Bay, will no longer take place. The event was expected to feature ATV and UTV races on the ice.

Event organizers announced the cancellation on social media, citing unsafe conditions.

“We held on to hope as long as we could, hoping the temperatures would swing in our favor, just a little, but these incredibly warm temperatures, both day and night, have left standing water on the ice and pressure cracks are beginning to form everywhere,” organizers wrote.
Officials said those who booked hotel accommodations in the area for the event should cancel their reservations as soon as possible.
