STOUGHTON, Wis. (WFRV) – A saturated traffic enforcement focused on speed violations was conducted by police on Wednesday in Wisconsin, resulting in several stops and an OWI arrest.
According to a release from the Stoughton Police Department, the hour-long operation carried out on USH 51 resulted in 13 traffic stops for speed violations, with three citations and 11 warnings being issued.
The highest violation was said to be one driver going 43mph in a 25mph zone, with the average speed of the drivers stopped being about 38mph.

Police say one of the drivers who was stopped for speeding, a 51-year-old man from Evansville, was found to have an odor of intoxicants on his breath, leading to the man being placed through field sobriety tests.
Following the field sobriety tests, the 51-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Dane County Jail for his 7th OWI offense.
No other information is available at this time, and police are awaiting the results of a blood draw to determine the level of alcohol in his system.
