FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Firefighters in Fond du Lac recently worked to put out a kitchen fire at a residence on Forest Avenue and saved a cat in the process.
A release sent out by Fond du Lac Fire Rescue states that around 8:25 a.m., crews were called to the 100 block of Forest Avenue for reports of a structure fire.
Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the front door of the residence and a fire that originated in the home’s kitchen.
It was noted that no one was home at the time of the fire, and one cat was found and returned to the owners.

The fire reportedly caused moderate fire damage to the kitchen area and smoke damage throughout the home.
The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes, and no injuries were reported. However, the home is currently uninhabitable, and the Red Cross is assisting the residents.
The exact cause is under investigation.
