OMAHA, Neb. (WFRV) – Dramatic video out of Nebraska shows the moment a roadway collapsed Tuesday morning, sending two vehicles into a sinkhole.
According to the Omaha Police Department, officers responded to an intersection where the pavement gave way just east of the crossing, causing two vehicles to fall into the hole.

Before first responders arrived, bystanders rushed in to help. Authorities said several people assisted the drivers out of their vehicles and guided them to safety, while others directed traffic and warned approaching motorists to stay back.
Police praised the quick actions of those on scene.

“Thank you so much to those who pitched in,” the department said in a statement. “You took the initiative to assist fellow Omahans.” Police Chief Todd Schmaderer added he is “always impressed by Omaha citizens helping each other out.”
Officials have not released additional details about what caused the roadway to collapse.
