GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – In recognition of National Eating Disorders Week, two clinical dietitians with ThedaCare joined Local 5’s Stacy Engebretson to discuss awareness, stigma and available support.
Jessica Herrmann and Carlissa Spreeman appeared on Off the Desk on WFRV+ and emphasized that eating disorders often carry stigma, making it difficult for individuals to seek help. They said the conditions can worsen in isolation and that open conversations are critical.

“There’s a concept that seeking help is not OK,” Herrmann said. “We’re really just looking to get the word out there that help is available, that it is OK to seek help and to admit that something’s going on — that you’re struggling with disordered eating patterns.”
The dietitians encouraged those who may be struggling, or who know someone who is, to reach out for professional support.
Off the Desk airs weekdays at 3:30 p.m. on Local 5 News and WFRV+.
