KENOSHA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in southern Wisconsin say the heroic efforts from local police officers allowed for a man to be rescued Friday afternoon after he had fallen through some ice.

Once on the scene, Officer Sawyer quickly retrieved and put on a personal floatation device before grabbing a water throw bag and immediately beginning rescue efforts.
The man needing help appeared to remain calm as Officer Sawyer explained how the rescue process would work. Officer Sawyer then made a precision throw and maintained steady communication with the man as he was safely pulled from the freezing water and brought back to shore.
We are incredibly thankful for Officer Sawyer’s quick thinking, professionalism, and training, which led to a successful outcome. We also commend the citizen who called for first responders, the Kenosha Fire Department for their swift response and for the fallen male for remaining calm, and working alongside officers during the rescue. Great teamwork and a job well done.
