GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Leicht Memorial Park in Green Bay is moving closer to getting a new pavilion, with construction expected to begin next week and wrap up before the end of the year.

City officials say the timeline calls for the project to be completed by the end of November, and everything is currently on track.
The Green Bay City Council recently approved hiring ISG to supervise the project and monitor construction on site.
“As a city, we don’t have the staff available, or the expertise to be on site daily and monitor construction of this magnitude,” Green Bay Parks Director Dan Ditscheit said.
ISG also designed the pavilion, and Ditscheit says having the same firm oversee construction will help ensure the project stays aligned with the original plans. The city is paying the firm about $500,000 for design work and an additional $230,000 to oversee construction.

The pavilion project itself is expected to cost nearly $5 million. All of the funding will come from the city’s Tax Incremental District (TID), along with a $250,000 stewardship grant.
The city could lose out on millions of dollars in funding if the project is not completed by the end of December.
