(WFRV) – Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation are offering drivers safety tips as rain, and potentially thunderstorms, hail, and strong wind gusts will be seen throughout the state on Friday.

WisDOT officials first say for drivers out on the Wisconsin roadways to use extra caution. They then remind drivers to remember the following while driving in weather-related conditions:
- Slow down and increase following distance
- Turn on lights and use windshield wipers in rain
- Keep a safe distance from other vehicles in strong winds
- Never drive into standing water
- Avoid using cruise control to keep from hydroplaning
