(WFRV) – Singer Genevieve Heyward, a Wisconsin native, is now advancing to the top 20 on American Idol.

During the most recent episode of the show, Heyward, from Lake Geneva, sang Elton Jonh’s “Your Song” in the Ohana round. Heyward dedicated the performance to her dad as her parents joined her in Hawaii.
She says that her father is a Vietnam veteran and was last in Hawaii on a layover as he was coming back from Vietnam. She added that it meant “so much” to have her father back in Hawaii to watch her accomplish her dreams live.

Part one and part two of the Top 20 at Aulani Resort will take place on March 16 and March 23.
