IOWA COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – A former correctional officer in southwestern Wisconsin was arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of misconduct while he was in office.
According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, Adam Rice had been with the department for about four years, and team members brought forth concerns about identification documents that didn’t meet standard procedures.

Officials began an internal review, but also requested that the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office conduct an external investigation to ensure impartiality, leading to Rice’s arrest on the following charges:
- Felony Misconduct in Public Office—Acting Inconsistent With Duty
- Felony Misconduct in Public Office—Falsifying Records/Statements
- Misdemeanor Theft of up to $2,500 in Movable Property
- Misdemeanor Possession of Illegally Obtained Prescription Medicine
Rice was arrested on Thursday and awaits a bond hearing, as the case remains under review.
