OMRO, Wis. (WFRV) – Dramatic body camera footage from the Omro Police Department released on Friday showed an officer calmly rescuing a man who fell through the ice a night earlier.

According to a release, the Winnebago County Communications Center received a 911 call around 7:11 p.m. on Thursday from the man, who reported that he had fallen through ice at Miller Park in Omro.
The 65-year-old man said he had been stuck in the water for about five minutes while hanging onto the dock, but he was unable to get out.
Omro Police Officer Quinn was the first to arrive at the scene and immediately rushed over to the man, who was half-submerged beneath the ice, as the man called out for help, stating that his arms couldn’t hold on much longer.
Officer Quinn continuously talked the man through the incident, calmly giving him instructions and encouraging the man as he helped lift him back out of the ice onto the dock.

Amidst a scary moment, the video received over 800 reactions in about five hours, nearly half of which were supportive/loving from community members.
The man was treated by emergency medical services at the scene for cold exposure and released.
