GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Darkened homes lined neighborhoods across Green Bay on Friday as crews worked to restore electricity following an ice storm that left hundreds without power.

Trucks from Wisconsin Public Service moved street to street, repairing outages scattered across the area that disrupted daily routines for residents.
“It’s an inconvenience, but it’s not the end of the world,” Mike Conger said.
He said outages have occurred multiple times in his neighborhood, with about 37 homes affected in the latest incident.
Without power, residents faced challenges such as keeping food refrigerated. Conger said that in past 24+ hour outages, he has donated perishable food to a local pantry. He planned to do the same on Friday, but was relieved when crews arrived and service began to be restored.
Despite the disruptions, Conger took the situation in stride.
“There is nothing we can do about it. If it happens, it happens,” Conger said. “You put on extra clothes, you laugh a little bit, and you meet your neighbors, you sometimes don’t get to see.”

With another ice storm forecast, WPS officials urge residents to prepare for future outages by assembling emergency kits. Those kits can be filled with essentials such as water, battery-powered devices and blankets.
Utility officials emphasized that having supplies ready in advance can help households stay safe and comfortable during extended outages.
