Arriving firefighters found the school bus surrounded by water and tilted to one side, with the driver unable to safely exit due to the situation’s rapidly changing conditions.
The situation was quickly assessed and firefighters were able to successfully assist the bus driver in exiting the school bus and making it to dry ground without suffering any injuries. The driver is said to be the only one on the bus at the time it got stuck..
Officials say this incident serves as a reminder that flooded roadways are dangerous, and even shallow moving water can be powerful enough to stall or sweep vehicles away.
