Officials say a traffic stop was attempted with deputies activating their emergency lights and siren near Highway 151, but the vehicle did not stop and continued southbound at normal highway speeds.
The vehicle then exited I-41 at County Highway B, ignoring the stop sign and at the end of the off-ramp and crossing a grassy median before continuing on in the wrong direction in the eastbound lane of County Highway B.
Deputies then attempted a PIT maneuver on the vehicle, which continued to accelerate away through the intersection of State Highway 175 and County Highway B, where it then hit a traffic sign before entering into a ditch and continued to accelerate until it crashed into two trees.
As deputies approached the vehicle, the driver was continuing to press the accelerator causing the tires to spin at a high rate. The 85-year-old Oshkosh man then exited the vehicle and was said to appear confused and disoriented, stating to deputies that he was lost and was trying to get back to Oshkosh.

Damage was done to multiple trees on private property, and there was damage to both the vehicle that crashed and minor damage to a squad car from the attempted PIT maneuver.
