Phil Collins says the idea of making new music is still on his mind, even after years of health challenges. Speaking on the Sodajerker on Songwriting podcast while discussing the expanded reissue of his debut solo album, Face Value, Collins revealed that he has continued writing and has several songs in different stages of completion.
He said he has a number of lyrical ideas, along with some tracks that are finished and others that are still in progress. While he stopped short of announcing a new project, Collins explained that he would like to return to his home studio if he feels physically able to do so.
Health issues have kept Collins away from live performances in recent years, and he has previously spoken about how those challenges led him to step back from touring. Even so, he made it clear that he has not given up on the creative process.
Although there is no indication that a new release is on the way, Collins’ latest comments show that recording new music remains a possibility if the circumstances are right.
