AURORA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 12-year-old boy in northern Wisconsin was pronounced dead at a hospital on Monday evening after being hit by a car.
The Florence County Sheriff’s Office reported that multiple calls came in around 6:16 p.m. on Monday surrounding an accident involving a vehicle and a power pole on County Highway N in Aurora.
Deputies on the scene learned that a vehicle went off-road and hit a power pole and a 12-year-old boy who was riding his bike. The 12-year-old boy was treated on the scene but died at a local medical center due to the injuries.
The driver, a 16-year-old male, had a passenger, and neither was injured in the crash. Deputies report that speed, inexperience and impairment are suspected factors in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.

The area was shut down during the evening and into the early morning hours on Tuesday, but is now reopened. The release said that a power outage occurred simultaneously.
