KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Badger State’s first large-scale energy storage project is now powering the energy grid with “sunshine after sunset,” officials with the Wisconsin Public Service say.
According to a release, the ‘Paris Solar-Battery Park’ is now online and is helping to power the energy grid in Kenosha County.
The 110-megawatt battery portion of the park went online this month, while the 200-megawatt solar portion of the project was said to have gone into service back in December.

Officials say the storage facility is made up of batteries that are capable of powering over 130,000 homes for hours.
They add that on sunny days, the batteries will store excess power and then release it at night or during the early morning hours when the sun is not shining.
Bringing Wisconsin’s first large-scale battery storage project online is historic and continues our commitment to provide customers reliable and affordable energy. Our ‘all of the above’ power generation approach means customers can count on the energy they need, no matter the weather or the time of day.
