APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – With the final closing date approaching the first anniversary in July, First 5 Fox Valley officials gathered to provide updates on the progression of renovating the Trout Museum of Art Building into a Family Resource Center.
The closing/official purchase date was on July 31, 2024, and now, with the Family Resource Center set to open to the community in 2026, the construction is entering more renovation phases.

The Family Resource Center will provide various programs and activities, including a public play area for parents to speak with early childhood care services and connect with others.
“Now there’s a physical place where kids want to come because it’s going to be beautiful and fun,” First 5 Fox Valley Executive Director Barb Tengesdal said. “We want the focus to be social connection where families know where to go and ask questions without worrying about how crazy it might be.”
Tengesdal added that the play area will provide opportunities for 30 children at a time, which will hopefully create a welcoming but also less chaotic environment.
