BELOIT, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in southern Wisconsin have provided an update on the accidental shooting that left a 17-year-old fighting for his life in the hospital.
After concluding their investigation and in close collaboration with the Rock County District Attorney’s Office, the Beloit Police Department has referred a potential charge of injury by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon.
Two hurt, suspect arrested in Sheboygan County shooting
The 15-year-old involved in the incident is fully cooperating with authorities. He was taken into custody and booked on Wednesday, June 11, but was later released with a referral to the juvenile justice system.
The victim remains hospitalized with a life-threatening injury.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as we investigated and collaborated with the DA’s office,” said the Beloit Police Department. “At this time, there are no other charges pending in this tragedy.”
