(WFRV) – A Wisconsin man charged with nearly 200 misdemeanors from alleged animal neglect/abuse and bail jumping was back in court on Friday.
Court records show that 44-year-old Luis Melendez of Kenosha was in court for an oral ruling in an attempt to have a number of counts dismissed.
The court ruled that counts 100-171 would be dismissed while counts 1-99 and 172-198 would remain in the criminal complaint.
The present bond was continued, and Melendez is expected to be back in court at 9:30 a.m. on March 19 for a status conference.

(WFRV) – A Wisconsin man charged with nearly 200 misdemeanors from alleged animal neglect/abuse and bail jumping was back in court on Tuesday.
Court records show that 44-year-old Luis Melendez of Kenosha was in court for a motion hearing in which the court heard arguments on dismissing counts in the criminal complaint.
An oral ruling is now scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on February 6, with a status conference still scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on March 19.

(WFRV) – A Wisconsin man charged with nearly 200 misdemeanors from alleged animal neglect/abuse and bail jumping was in court on Friday morning.
Court records show that 44-year-old Luis Melendez of Kenosha was in court for a judicial pre-trial hearing with an attorney present.
Melendez’s bond was modified to $100 cash and a motion hearing was scheduled for 3 p.m. on February 3, with a status conference on March 19 at 9:30 a.m.

(WFRV) – A Wisconsin man charged with nearly 200 misdemeanors from alleged animal neglect/abuse and bail jumping was bound over for trial while in court on Wednesday.

Court records show that 44-year-old Luis Melendez of Kenosha was in court for a preliminary hearing while in custody on Tuesday, as his present bond continued.
Melendez and his attorney withheld pleas on the 197 misdemeanors, but a not guilty plea was entered to the felony charge of mistreating an animal causing death. Probable cause was found as he was bound over for trial.

Melendez is scheduled for a Judicial Pretrial hearing on January 16 at 9 a.m.
Another person charged in the case, Margarita Corazon Arrieta-Alcaide of Kenosha, faces 171 charges relating to animal abuse/neglect. One of the charges is a felony, while the rest are misdemeanors.
