(WFRV) – A former corrections officer at the Waupun Correctional Institution has pleaded guilty to bribery and smuggling contraband, authorities say.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin, 46-year-old Luz Naranjo received two bribe payments of $3,000 for smuggling tobacco, cellular phones, controlled substances, and other contraband into WPI for an inmate.

Officials say Naranjo pleaded guilty while in court on January 15 to conspiring to commit federal program bribery.
Naranjo is scheduled to be sentenced on April 15 and faces a maximum of five years in prison. No other information is available at this time.
