ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and law enforcement have given the all-clear over the reported shots fired near the Rock County campus, as there is no active life safety threat.
Officials said no injuries have been reported, with an all-clear signal sent out.

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Wisconsin are still on site at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Rock County Campus.
According to the updated alert from the University and Rock County Sheriff’s Office, authorities have not identified an active threat at this time, as they work to clear the area.

Officials responding to report of gunshots near UW-Whitewater’s Rock County campus
January 23, 2026 – 3:36 p.m.
ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Wisconsin are actively responding to a reported threat to life safety on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Rock County campus.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office provided an update that the response is for a shots-fired call within the vicinity of the campus, but no active threat has officially been identified.
An alert on the university’s website states the following:
“Police have responded to a report of a life safety threat on the Rock County Campus. Run! Hide! Fight!”
No active threat or emergency is present on the campus in Whitewater.
