AMERY, Wis. (WFRV) — One person is dead and a popular Wisconsin bar has been deemed a total loss following an early morning fire Wednesday in Amery.
At around 2:30 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire at UW Wanderoos Bar and Grill on 70th Avenue.

Multiple first responders were dispatched to the scene. Authorities confirmed the building included two apartments located above the business.
All occupants were able to escape the fire, however, officials say one individual later suffered a medical event and died. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

UW Wanderoos Bar and Grill sustained extensive damage and is believed to be a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
