DODGEVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – Three people were arrested Wednesday afternoon after Iowa County deputies said they discovered multiple narcotics during a traffic stop in Dodgeville.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., a deputy with the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on County Highway YZ in the city of Dodgeville for a traffic violation.

Authorities identified the driver as Nicholas L. Friederich, 40, of Linden, and the passenger as Renee L. Spurley, 41, of Linden.
During the investigation, deputies determined both occupants had allegedly consumed controlled substances prior to the stop. A search of Friederich reportedly resulted in the seizure of 25.87 grams of methamphetamine, 0.89 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Deputies also reported locating 1.15 grams of suspected THC concentrate and approximately 38.06 grams of marijuana inside the vehicle.
Spurley was also searched and was reportedly found to be in possession of approximately 1.43 grams of heroin, about 1.5 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Authorities said she was also in violation of active bond conditions.
As part of the investigation, deputies determined that Shelby L. Cody, 29, of Dodgeville, had allegedly made phone contact with Spurley despite an active court-ordered no-contact condition. Deputies later responded to Cody’s residence and placed her under arrest.
Friederich was arrested on the following charges:
- Manufacture or delivery of amphetamine (10–50 grams)
- Possession of cocaine
- Possession with intent to deliver THC (200 grams or less)
- Possession of narcotic drugs
- Possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture methamphetamine
- Maintaining a drug trafficking place (party to a crime)
Spurley was arrested on the following charges:
- Bail jumping
- Possession of cocaine
- Possession of narcotic drugs
- Possession with intent to deliver amphetamine (party to a crime)
- Maintaining a drug trafficking place (party to a crime)
- Possession with intent to deliver THC (party to a crime)

Cody was arrested on a charge of felony bail jumping.
All three were transported to the Iowa County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
