Oshkosh resident rescued during fire, no injuries reported
Chilton Fire Department crews responded to a fire on Hickory Hills Road in Chilton around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, for the reported fire, learning that a family of eight was trying to escape.
Officials arrived and found significant smoke flowing outside the home, with the entire first floor burned through from a basement fire, forcing a different plan of attack.
Crews fought from outside and entered the second floor later, to prevent the fire from spreading into the attic, as the home suffered extreme damage from fire, smoke and water.
Authorities responded with numerous ambulances because of the sheer number of individuals on the scene who may have needed treatment for smoke inhalation. All of the family members were treated and released from a local hospital.
