(WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say an 84-year-old woman is dead following a house fire on Monday morning.
According to a release from the Village of Greendale Fire Department, fire crews and police responded at 8:02 a.m. to a home on the 7200 block of Enfield Avenue for reports of a fire.
Arriving first responders to the scene say they encountered a working fire with heavy smoke seen coming from the front entrance and flames visible along one side of the home. Crews then entered the home through a side door and were able to successfully extinguish the fire with help from neighboring fire agencies.

While responding to the fire, an 84-year-old woman was found in the home. She was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Two other residents were able to evacuate the home safely.
The fire is not believed to be suspicious at this time, but it is not yet known what caused the fire. Due to the death of the 84-year-old woman, the Wisconsin State Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to conduct a full investigation into the incident.
