(WFRV) – Two Wisconsin men are said to now be in custody on charges of theft and trespassing after deputies recently recovered stolen scrap copper and radiators.
According to a release from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies investigated on Saturday, February 21, reports of scrap copper and radiators being stolen from a property on Myers Lane.
During the initial investigation, officials say a suspect vehicle and two suspects were identified, with a search warrant being carried out on Monday at a property on the 17100 block of County Road T in the Township of Boscobel.

Upon arrival at the mentioned property, two men were detained for questioning, with one of the men attempting to flee at first but was later found hiding behind a nearby shed. The two men were identified as 22-year-old Joshua McCartney from Blue River and 53-year-old David Reed from Avoca.
During the search, deputies located and seized receipts and money from the sale of the stolen scrap, with both McCartney and Reed confessing to stealing the scrap copper and radiators.
Charges of theft and trespassing are being referred for both men, with McCartney also being arrested on a warrant out of Richland County.
