GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Gas prices in northeast Wisconsin are still under the national average of $3.25, but community members visiting the pump told Local 5 they’re frustrated.

“It’s just going up and up, I think it’s with everything going on in the world right now, which is crazy,” Nyah Dreger of Green Bay said. “I hope it gets better soon.”
Dreger says she spent over $37 for half a tank of gas.
“I usually put in 30 and it’s a full tank; it was at half, so that’s kinda crazy,” Dreger said.
For other Green Bay residents like Jamie Lucas, higher gas prices come as many everyday expenses continue to climb.
“Especially with the utility bills and everybody else’s living expenses, it starts weighing on you a little bit,” Lucas said.
AAA Director of Public Affairs Nick Jarmusz says there are a couple of reasons for this increase at the pump, citing international conflict.
“What we are seeing right now is a combination of both that typical seasonal arc and supply sight issues that are being caused by that conflict in the Middle East,” Jarmusz said.
In Green Bay, prices have increased by 35 cents, one of the biggest jumps in about four years.
“Its the biggest jump since the Russian-Ukraine war,” Jarmusz said.
Jarmusz expressed uncertainty over future costs as well.
“It’s difficult to say with any degree of certainty how high they’ll go or how quickly we will go to that high before the market stabilizes and maybe comes back down,” Jarmusz said.

While it is hard to say how high gas prices will go, drivers told Local 5 they are already feeling the impact.
“Take a car, it’s expensive, take a plane, it’s even more expensive, I wish it would come down a little bit more,” Lucas said.
