On February 28, around 9:30 a.m., authorities were sent to a reckless driving complaint. The caller said Fannin was just inside an oil change store and thought he was intoxicated.
Fannin was described as ‘slurring and stumbling’ around. There was also the smell alcohol, the caller said.
Authorities ended up going to his house and rang his doorbell. While talking with them, Fannin reportedly admitted to being under the influence.
The complaint says he told authorities he went to a car wash and then got an oil change. He refused field sobriety tests, but did a preliminary breath test.
The result of the PBT was .257, the complaint said. He was taken to the Brown County Jail, and around 12:15 p.m., he did another PBT, which came back with a result of .301.
He took a third test at the hospital, which reportedly was .245.
Fannin is charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (7th offense)
- Felony
- Up to 12 and a half years in prison (Can be increased due to being a repeater)
Court records show his cash bond was set at $100,000 and is scheduled to be back in court on March 31 for his initial appearance.
