SHAWANO COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Wisconsin are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one person dead early on Tuesday morning.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home in Green Valley in the 2300 block of State Highway 22 for a reported disturbance around 1:41 a.m.
Suspect arrested in Wisconsin homicide case from November
Officials say that a male suspect was locked inside a bathroom and refused to exit, also reportedly telling deputies that he had a gun. According to a release, less lethal force was ineffective.
The suspect allegedly continued on towards officers with what deputies believed to be a gun, prompting one to shoot the suspect, who was pronounced dead at an area hospital following life-saving efforts.
Body camera footage will be reviewed, and the deputy will be on administrative leave per standard agency policy.
