APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – It wasn’t just the roads that were severely hindered by the historic blizzard, but it was also blood donation efforts across Wisconsin.
The Community Blood Center in Appleton says it has issued a CODE RED, indicating a critical need for all blood types, as it lost about 200 appointments on Monday because of the poor conditions.

President and CEO John Hagins says that while winter storms disrupt donations, hospital patients still desperately need as much help as people can provide.
“Winter storms can quickly disrupt blood donations, but local hospital patients still depend on generous donors every day,” Hagins said via a release.
