(WFRV) – Those hoping to cross the Wisconsin River in southern Wisconsin can now do so via ferry as the Merrimac Ferry is now open.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced that the Merrimac Ferry is open for the 2026 season. The ferry shuttles WIS 113 traffic, bicyclists and pedestrians across the Wisconsin River.
This happens 24-hours a day, seven days a week between Okee in Columbia County and Merrimac in Sauk County.
I-41 southbound ramps to temporarily close in Outagamie County
It is Wisconsin’s only free ferry and reportedly takes about seven minutes for a single crossing.
Last year the ferry made just under 40,000 crossings and carried a total of 208,823 vehicle, bicycles and pedestrians.
