HOBART, Wis. (WFRV) — After competing at the WIAA girls state wrestling championships in 2024 and 2025, Harlow Skenandore is stepping away from high school competition to chase something bigger — another national title.
After winning the 16U freestyle 140-pound title at junior nationals in Fargo, North Dakota (in 2025), Harlow’s competitive wrestling journey now takes her to Spokane, Washington.
The 2026 USA Wrestling Women’s National Championships and World Team Trials will be held April 9–12 in Spokane, featuring divisions from 8U through U23, including Skenandore’s U17 bracket.
“I’ve been practicing a lot for this and am super excited to see how I do,” Skenandore said. “I did a lot of college opens, wrestling against college girls, that’s kind of been my competition preparation. That’s what I did for tournaments leading up to this.”
Her coaches describe her as an athlete who lets her work ethic do the talking.
“Ever since we’ve known her, that’s the way she’s been extremely hard working, very humble, Scotty Smith, owner of Synergy Sports performance, said. “She just comes in and is one of those types of kids that will just do whatever you ask and does it with a smile.”
With a win in Spokane, Harlow would clinch a spot in the World Championships — a chance to compete on the global stage.
For now, though, her focus remains the same: wrestle as hard as she can and have fun.
