GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – With the 2026 Spring General Election underway, officials with the City of Green Bay have issued a statement on a Wisconsin Elections Commission Complaint.
According to a release from the City of Green Bay, voters throughout the city requested 6,429 absentee ballots, with 152 of those voter requests receiving duplicate absentee ballots due to staff inadvertently printing two copies of one set of labels.

Officials say they have sent notices to all voters who received a duplicate ballot and have put a system in place to ensure each voter has just one ballot counted.
As of April 6, it was reported that 4,985 of the requested 6,429 were returned, with 116 of those ballots returned being from individuals who received duplicate ballots. Of the 116 ballots received from those sent an extra ballot, only one duplicate ballot pair was received by the City.
Authorities with the City’s Clerk’s Office spoke with the voter who returned the duplicate pair, who requested that both ballots be spoiled and was then issued a new ballot.

Officials say that all ballots received by the Clerk’s Office on election day will be processed after all prior ballots are opened at the central count.
The Clerk’s Office ensures that they will continue checking each ballot against the list of the 152 voters who received a duplicate ballot. Any duplicate ballots received on election day will be identified and given to the Board of Absentee Ballot Canvassers for proper handling.
