The Latest from Storm Team 5…
Much cooler air rushed in today with highs only hitting the 30s to low 40s this afternoon. Tonight, plan on clear skies to start with clouds increasing after midnight. Lows will be in the mid to upper 20s around midnight, then warm a few degrees after that.
Snow or a wintry mix will arrive after 2-3am. Central WI has the best chance to pick up a glaze of ice with northern WI having the best chance at a few tenths of an inch of snow. As the warm air catches up with this batch of precipitation, it should change to rain showers. This system will exit around mid morning.
Then a southwest wind will kick in behind this front, with gusts hitting 30-35 mph. Highs will surge into the 50s and 60s inland, with 40s expected lakeside.
Finally, along the cold front, expect a chance for rain showers any time after 5-6pm Wednesday evening through about midnight Thursday morning. Total moisture amounts will be around 1/4-1/2″, so rivers should not rise much after this one.
Thursday looks mostly sunny with highs around normal in the low 50s. A weak mix of rain or snow moves by overnight.
Friday will be a carbon copy of the day prior with maybe a few extra clouds. Highs will top out again in the low 50s.
Saturday looks warmer in the mid 50s under mostly sunny skies. Then the weekend turns unsettled as periods of rain showers are in the forecast Saturday night, Sunday and especially Monday where we may even hear some rumbles of thunder.
