(WFRV) – The Wisconsin State Patrol is reminding drivers to remember to drive safely while traveling past crash sites to protect and keep roadside workers safe.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, there are, on average, over 2,000 crashes each year inside active work zones.

In order to help protect and keep roadside workers safe, troopers say no handheld devices should be used in work zones or within 500 feet of emergency responders.
Troopers also add that if drivers do need to use their handheld devices, they should pull over to a safe, non-work zone location before proceeding to call or text.
