Voluntary recall issued for select Chili John’s products distributed throughout Wisconsin, no illnesses reported

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A Green Bay food distributor issued a voluntary recall on two of its products on Tuesday, according to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

According to the release, Zee Best Foods issued a voluntary Class I recall for its Chili John’s Meat Sauce and Chili John’s Chili with Spaghetti and Beans Super Bowl Products.

Taco Bell expands to Greenville, will offer free Taco Bell for a year

These products may still be on retail shelves in Wisconsin, and the affected products carry a mark of inspection for establishment No. 545, according to the release. The products mentioned:

  • Chili John’s Meat Sauce in 8 and 16 oz. containers with lot codes 2551, 2621, and 2631 shown
  • Chili John’s Chili with Spaghetti and Beans Super Bowl in 14 oz. containers (all flavors) with lot code 2661 shown

A Class I recall indicates that it’s a health hazard situation where there’s a potential chance for serious health issues if the product is used. The recall is based on evidence that indicates the products weren’t produced at proper temperatures and without control records.

No illnesses have been reported as of the recall announcement, but anybody with signs or symptoms should contact their doctor. Anybody with these products should throw them out.
