Steve McGrath, your plucky Morning Host, is a 10+ year radio veteran, albeit spread out over 30 years! A Minneapolis native, Steve grew up listening to the radio, leaving him with a dream to make radio his career. After graduating from the famous Brown Institute broadcasting program, Steve spent time entertaining folks in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Eau Claire and, most recently, Green Bay. He took some time away from radio but now he’s back, doing what he loves: playing Classic Hits and making people smile…maybe even LAUGH!
A celeb doing something goofy? He’ll fill you in! Weird stuff going on in the world…not to mention here in the Fox Valley? He’s on it! One of Steve’s four kids doing something…entertaining? Steve will tell you all about it…as long as it doesn’t embarrass them…too much!
When he’s not on the air amazing listeners with his knowledge of things no one cares about, and when all of his chores are done, Steve enjoys movies and TV shows, especially science fiction and comedy, and he especially likes hanging out with his family!
Speaking of which…
Steve has been married to his wife Ali for over 20 years and has four children: Logan, Libby, Ramsey, and Oliver.
WVBO’s mid-day host, Max Fredrick, is a Wisconsin native and graduate of UW Oshkosh with a love of all things Film and Radio. You may have heard him review a movie or two on 90.3 WRST where he hosted the award winning “Script to Screen”. Max has been on the air in a number of other ways too, calling baseball for the UWO Titans, shelling out tunes on WRST’s “The Shuffle” and discussing sports on “The Windup”. Radio is his life’s passion, but he is also a writer who loves to put new ideas for shows and movies on paper. If you want to hear all the fun ideas he’s cooking up, all you have to do is ask. Max is also a major history buff who has a fun factoid, anecdote or reference for any occasion. Although he’s always lived in Wisconsin, Max loves to travel near and far. No road trip is too long and no spontaneous overseas travel is too far, and to see his favorite bands live, he’d go anywhere on Earth.
WVBO’s new afternoon guy Jay Philpott has lived the theme song of WKRP in Cincinnati: “Town to town, up and down the dial.” Jay is a radio lifer and has been on the air since he was 15…licensed by the FCC before being licensed to drive by the DMV! Jay has been to all FIFTY states and has lived/worked in a dozen of them, appearing on the air in places like Minneapolis, Seattle, Milwaukee (93QFM, Lazer 103, WKLH, WMYX and The Hog!), Norfolk/Virginia Beach, St. Louis, Dallas, Baltimore, Atlanta and now back in Wisconsin for the third time in the Fox River Valley!
Jay’s passion in life is music and radio, and making sure you get great entertainment from Classic Hits 103-9. When not on the air, Jay likes to follow aviation and space travel, history and good health and has no problem jumping out of a perfectly good airplane – Jay likes to skydive and lives by the motto “Making a good first impression is important, but as a skydiver, it’s best not to make any impression at all!” Listen to Jay weekdays from 3-7pm and Saturdays from 2-6pm on Classic Hits 103-9 WVBO.
Julie Wylde is 103.9% Wisconsin!
She was born and raised here and loves the cold weather – she says it helps support her secret theory on how to look younger than she really is. Add to that her love of a great bar burger and cheese curds, especially from the small-town bars – can’t get much more Wisconsin than that!
Besides playing these artists on the radio, Julie loves to sing their songs karaoke-style and belts out some Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, ABBA, and Meatloaf when she gets the chance.
Biggest surprise about Julie? She’s a former arm wrestler in possession of 5 trophies and she’s a racecar driver with a 1st Place trophy for drag racing at WIR to prove it.
Catch Julie on Classic Hits 103-9 WVBO every Sunday from Noon to 6pm!
