Fire destroys Sheboygan County garage after several departments respond, cause under investigation

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (WFRV) – The garage of a Sheboygan County home was destroyed after a fire nearly spread to the home on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Elkhart Lake Fire Department, crews responded to the 200 block of Crestwood Drive in Elkhart Lake around 3:20 p.m. on February 20 for a garage fire.

The first crews to arrive, including firefighters with the Glenbeulah Fire Department, found a fully involved fire in the attached garage of a home.

It was not initially confirmed if all residents had evacuated, so crews immediately performed a search of the home.

The fire had reportedly spread to the attic of the house, and additional crews were called in to help put out the fire and stop any further spread.

There were no reported injuries to any residents, however, multiple firefighters reported falls due to the icy conditions.

Crews left the scene around 6 p.m. and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. No additional details were provided.
