Campbellsport volunteer firefighter arrested for alleged sexual assault of a child

CAMPBELLSPORT, Wis. (WFRV) – A 34-year-old Campbellsport resident and volunteer firefighter has been arrested for allegedly having sexual contact with a child.

According to a release, a preliminary investigation revealed sexual contact with a known female. The suspect was arrested Saturday morning and remains in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail for second-degree sexual assault of a child. Authorities have not released the suspect’s name.

Campbellsport Village Administrator Charlie Kudy addressed the allegations in a statement, saying, “We hold all employees and volunteers of the Village of Campbellsport to the highest moral and ethical standards. These allegations are a shock. This individual has betrayed the trust of the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department and, most importantly, our community. He was immediately placed on suspended leave pending the investigation.”
